The book presents the results of the direct funding experiment. It contains stories of the users, changes in their lives – greater autonomy, empowerment, more adequate services, increased activities, smaller likelihood of institutionalisation, more contacts. Monograph describes the method of individual planning develop in the experiment and the empowering procedures of entering the scheme. It analyses the organisation of direct funding and the obstacles encountered in introducing a major innovation to the social care system.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3572325The invited lecture at the world scientific conference in social work has presented the issues of precarious work situation of people with disabilities in the times when “mainstreaming employment” of people with disabilities has become a global social policy issue. The lecture has shown a paradox between the »end of work« and the export of work places to the cheaper parts of the world on the one side and a greater demand for full employment of people with disabilities on the other side. It has shown the positive and negative aspects of these global processes.

Zaviršek is also the author of the article. The book was launched at the third international doctoral school Indosow in June 2010 directed by the first author of the book (the programme Indosow has received an international award in 2009 by the CSWE for excellence in teaching and international programmes) and at the world social work congress in Hong Kong.
