The quantity and impact of student work in Slovenia are first analysed using a relative big sample of individual-level data. The overall size of student work as well as the distribution of hours worked and earnings at individual level are presented. Although students do crowd out some groups on the labour market, almost a third of all student work can be classified as work demanding some expert knowledge or skills, which may well enhance the employability of students. Finally, we find that working students are less successful in progressing to a successive years of study.
