An entrepreneur's social capital can be important for their firm's growth. The creation of a network can be largely determined by strategy. This study makes a contribution by developing and testing a model of the firm growth driven by the entrepreneur's social capital. The findings suggest that firm growth can be influenced by strategic utilization of the entrepreneur's resource-based social capital. In particular, resource network intensity can have a positive influence on firm growth, whereas the central resource 'network person friendship' can be negatively related to firm growth.

This paper studies occupational gender segregation in Slovenia as one of the indicators of social equity, which is one of the bottom lines of sustainable development, and compares it to other European Union countries. Though occupational gender segregation exists in Slovenia, research shows that females in Slovenia are in a better position regarding occupational segregation than their counterparts in the observed countries and that higher economic development results in higher occupational gender specialization.

After the initial e-learning enthusiasm, we have finally reached a stage of sobriety, similarly as at the burst of the dot.com bubble in business. In the paper, a case of blended learning approach in higher education is presented that is part of a wider nationally financed research project about ICT and e-learning. The research results presented in the paper showed that ICT per se does not improve e-learning effectiveness. Only the use of different teaching strategies (methods of teaching and learning) from those used in traditional education can improve study effectiveness in e-learning.
