In 2010, the slovenian team won the Grand Prize for the third time in five years, for a project of inventive biosynthesis on the basis of the assembly of biosynthetic enzymes fused to DNA-binding proteins along the DNA. The competition in 2010 involved 130 teams from the world's top universities such as MIT, Harvard, Berkeley, Stanford, Caltech, Cambridge, ETH, Tokyo, Beijing ...

COBISS.SI-ID: 4577050In PhD thesis based on research in the program, Nuša Resman described the mechanism of activation ofTLR4 activation and the effect of taxol in activation and inhibition of innate immune response.inhibition of immune response through the taxon.
D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students
COBISS.SI-ID: 2894449In order to avoid complex posttranslational modification of the PFK1 enzyme, mutated truncated gene was constructed. The insertion of the modified gene enhanced primary metabolism in the recipient cells which resulted in an increase of tricarboxylic acid cycle intermediates (anaplerosis). Such condition caused more rapid anabolic reactions and increased productivity of specific bio-products. Since PFK1 enzyme is ubiquitus, the active shorter PFK1 fragment can be used for the enhancement of primary metabolism also in other microorganisms.
F.32 International patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 3884826PI od the program presented results on the topics of innate immunity and synthetic biology of the program group in invited lectures at international scientific conferences.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4577562In MSc Thesis posttranslational modification of 6-phosphofructo-1-kinase was described in cancer cells. Posttranslational modification of PFK1 enzyme might be the pivotal factor of deregulated glycolytic flux in tumors that in combination with altered signaling mechanisms essentially supports fast proliferation of cancer cells.
