Synthetic biology is a promising field of the sciences since its results provide a potential application in many fields of human activity. The challenges and opportunities of synthetic biology was the theme of the conference, organized by the American Academy of Sciences, the Royal Society and the OECD, and where the head of the program, prof. Jerala, presented the Slovenian achievements in this field. The conference was attended by most researchers in this fieldand many international agencies, academies, etc..

COBISS.SI-ID: 4330266We have prepared a new type of peptide inhibitors of substance INT INT domain adapter protein. We prepared two types of peptides that can penetrate into the cells, and showed their performance. Peptide can prevent the activation of several TLRjev through binding to the cytosolic adapter proteins. The potential use of these peptides for the inhibition of inflammation, which is important in many diseases.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4380954We developed a new type of bionanomaterials based on the assembly of peptide-based coiled-coil segments. The smallest element, which allows the formation of 3D structures is composed of three segments. Different selection of segments assembled into structures that may form geometric shapes such as cube or tetrahedron or a network. These structures have the possibility of a wide variety of applications such as the formation of intelligent filters, materials to support cell growth, and construction of various nanostructures.
