The publication contains overview of the situation in agriculture and agricultural policy in seven Western Balkan countries. The preceding synthesis chapter puts the cross-country results in comparative perspective and draws the main analytical and policy conclusions. The final chapter presents the methodology used to prepare the country-individual and cross-country budgetary data analysis (Agri-Policy Measures template - APM).

Experimental hop breeding datawere used to create a model of an expert system based on the multi-attribute decision modeling methodology DEX (The DEX-HOP 1.0). Furthermore, utility functions in the model were defined by sets of elementary decision rules throughout the entire hierarchy for all aggregated attributes.

A new, ridge–furrow–ridge rainfall harvesting (RFRRH) system covered with black polyethylene (PE) mulch and black perforated PE mulch was studied in the cultivation of purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea Moench). In the RFRRH system, PE mulch covered two ridges and a furrow between them, which serve as a rainfall harvesting zone. Soil water content, crop yield and production cost effectiveness were evaluated. It supplies at least an equal amount of water in comparison to bare ground (control), and can be used in semi-humid or humid regions without additional irrigation.
