The patent describes a new product, based on TiO2-SiO2 aqueous sol with addition of some organic solvents to assure high optical quality and homogeneity of the coatings, which strengthen already at room temperature and upon sun exposure. The coatings are composed of photoactive crystalline anatase nanoparticles, while silica serves to attain better hydrophilicity and mechanical properties of the coatings. Now we continue with activities to widen the patent protection in European countries.

D.10 Educational activities
With a Slovenian company Corus Inženirji d.o.o. we have successfully finished development of a new product from the field of renewable energy sources. Together we have developed a high thermal conductive heat exchanger for an efficient exploitation of geothermal energy, which is already commercialized. The task of the program group members were development of high thermal conductive concrete/grout and development of computer model for simulation of heat flow in the borehole. The efficiency of the development has been confirmed by the studies of heat transport on the construction site. Based on the development the new company was established, which achieves 40.000 EUR of added value per employee.
F.06 Development of a new product
COBISS.SI-ID: 2104827For the company Electrolux Italia s.p.a we have made a comprehensive study (135 pages) with the title given above. The aim of this study was to find out industrial applicability of photocatalytic technologies for water treatment and eventual implementation of these technologies for the needs of Electrolux multinational corporation. On the basis of this study, cooperation with Electrolux was then continued in the laboratory with a design and construction of prototype photoreactor with prescribed dimensions for the use in Electrolux appliances. The reactor was tested with selected immobilized catalysts on Al-plates in aqueous media.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 1768955On initiative and under organization of the members of this research program the Slovenian-Italian Conference on Materials and Technologies for Sustainable Growth has attracted important players on several technological sectors, with a wide attendence of scientists, R&D researchers and industrial people. the conference covered two main topics of future development of the society. These are sustainable development of materials and technologies for preservation of the environment and efficient use of energy resources.
