Traditional computing is based on Boolean logic implemented in sillicon based integrated circuits. Such methodology and technology has certain limitations, not to mention ever increasing demands for available computational power. Therefore the research of new computing paradigms that would add computational power and be economically feasible is essential, and one such area is biological computing. This is a very promissing area where program Pervasive computing is intensively involved, including such important events like IGEM 2010. This event was important for promotion of Slovenia, because students team from University of Ljubljana was the winning ahead of such competition like Cambridge, MIT, etc. The team was lead by prof. Jerala, while our faculty part of the team was led by Prof. Dr. Zimic and Prof. Dr. Mraz (http://2010.igem.org/Main_Page).

COBISS.SI-ID: 8426836Trust in e-servcies is essential for further economical prosperity of nations and EU as a whole (which is often emphasized also by high ranking EU officials, e.g. Vivianne Reding). Therefore not only theoretical views of trust management are important, but also practical implementation issues. This publication presents our methodology called Qualitative Assessment Dynamics, QAD, and its implementation, called Zaupnik, which supports services in WWW, and also supports decision making (Zaupnik can be deployed as a stand-alone simulation application).

COBISS.SI-ID: 8554580The paper presents an expert system for detection, and subsequent investigation, of groups of collaborating automobile insurance fraudsters. Opposed to many other approaches, the system uses networks for representation of data, which allows formulation and analysis of complex relations between entities. Fraudulent entities are found by employing a novel assessment algorithm that, besides intrinsic attributes of entities, explores also the relations between entities. Results on real-world data show that automobile insurance fraud can be efficiently detected with the proposed system. This knowledge is marketed thorugh SW application of Optilab company, and also deployed in an application for Comission for the prevention of corruption. Our research therefore has tangible economical resutls and contributes to development od Slovenia.
