Upon an invitation by Professor Dr. Len Gelman, who served as President of the Sixth International Conference on Condition Monitoring and Machinery Failure Prevention Technologies, Dublin, June 23-25, 2009. CM 2009 and MFPT 2009. Northampton, Comadit, I gave an Introductory Plenary Lecture within which I presented new findings and methods in using audible sound for monitoring operation conditions of pumps and fans in transient phenomena and instability, and quality control of welding pot, techniques of steel cutting by water jet and steel grinding.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10982171In this paper the sound pattern of a gear unit was recorded by using of an acoustic camera. Based on an analysis of the recorded sound spectra in time and frequency domain, the main noise sources within the gear unit were established. The results were compared to the sound pattern of the same gear unit with one damaged tooth. A fault was established by a spectral analysis.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 13147926In his doctoral thesis the candidate studied the effect the noise caused by a welding process has on a welder. For this purpose, a special binaural measurement method by using two microphones placed in both ears was used. The results of the measurement and complex frequency analyses have shown that the welder was exposed to too much noise in a particular part of noise spectra, which was reflected in hearing loss, i.e., in a permanent hearing threshold shift of the welder. In the doctoral thesis other ergonomic effects on the welder and his well-being were also discussed.
D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students
COBISS.SI-ID: 10811931The purpose of this research is to ascertain the effects of noise on the stress hormone cortisol and compare the results with the levels of the noise measured and the subjective perceptions of the exposed teachers in a kindergarten. It was found that subjective perceptions of noise and consequential stresses were in some correlation with the measured noise level. The measured levels of cortisol the results are statistically significant, related to other findings and new in literature. This work is a part of the doctoral thesis by the first author of the paper.
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 2587505In this paper a new proposal for a remote performing of laboratory exercises is presented. The proposal was realized with some handicapped students being at home owing to a disease. Possibility for wider use of the idea to all students is thus just an institutional problem.
