In the paper, design of self-cleaning TiO2 coating on clay roofing tiles is described. To improve efficiency of coating, intermediate layer of PEG-a was applied, which during firing of roofing tiles burns out resulting in porous TiO2 coating. This way the active surface is increased and self-cleaning efficiency is improved. Photocatalytic efficiency was determined by decomposition of model colorcolour methylene blue by means of UV/VIS spectrophotometer.

Nanodimensional TiO2 and mesoporous silica supports used for incorporation of titania with different Ti/Si molar ratios have been synthesized via sol-gel method. Characterization by advanced techniques XRPD, FE-SEM, TEM, XPS, FT-IR, UVVis-NIR, DRS and BET analysis has been carried out to investigate the chemical framework and morphology of powders. Photocatalytic activity of the samples was assessed in gas phase by means of FT-IR. Nanodimensional TiO2 was used for preparation of coatings onto construction products. The newly developed coating is active also after accelerating ageing.

Stability of the green nitrate and the green chloride type of patinas, and of electrochemically formed patina, was investigated, as well as suitable protection methods. Two inhibitors, dissolved in different solutions, were used: benzotriazole and the less hazardous imidazole type of inhibitor, waxes, and metacrylate laquers. The dissolving of untreated and pre-treated surfaces, in test solutions representing urban rain, was investigated by means of electrochemical techniques. The microstructure of the patinas and the corrosion products was investigated by SEM/EDX and Raman spectroscopy.

The results of shaking table tests of masonry building models have been used for the assessment of values of structural behaviour factor. Two different structural configurations, built with two different types of masonry materials, were investigated. The study indicated that the reduction of seismic forces depends not only on the type of construction system, but also on structural configuration and mechanical characteristics of masonry materials. It has been also shown that besides displacement and energy dissipation capacity, damage limitation requirement should be taken into account.

In collaboration with the CEA team the results of radionuclide transport calculations from silo repository into the environment through saturated and unsaturated zone were assessed. The evaluation was performed for Slovenian repository type in accordance with inputs from the preliminary design. Within sensitivity analysis of the Slovene repository case we determined the most influent input parameters on activity concentrations at observation points. Gradual degradation of the engineered barriers has been simulated by gradual increase of their hydraulic conductivity at selected times.
