Checking economic and technical design solutions with evaluations of various interpretations of geomechanical parameters obtained from geometric and geotechnical measurements provides an opportunity to make critical comments. An EC7 detailed review of the design through the support structure, to some extent, allows geostatic analysis of the shaft lining to check the stability of the deeper shaft section in different ground layers with used assets geotechnical properties. This raises the question of the calculation that takes into account the principles of Ultimate Limit States (ULS) and Serviceability Limit States (SLS) in deeper shaft sections with thick cover ground layers, primarily the stress state in complex geological and hydro-geological conditions relating to economic construction.

COBISS.SI-ID: 15586838The paper represents a modified method for analysis and design of cantilever retaining structures in two-dimensional conditions. It is based on the limit state method, but it uses some additional conditions of interaction between the retaining structure and the ground referring to the distribution of activated influences and resistances. The general shape of the proposed modified net pressures distribution at the limit equilibrium state gives the great benefit, which is shown in the analysis of structures in layered ground, embedded in frictional and cohesive materials, and in the possibility of considering the influence of surcharge loadings on the active or passive side of the retaining structure. The proposed method gives results which are in good agreement with FEM results based on elasto-plastic interaction analyses; meanwhile the entire passive resistance considered in classical methods for retaining structure analyses is actually not activated. The greatest differences are exhibited for structures embedded in soils with high shear strength if higher portions of friction between the structure and the ground are considered.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14197782Basic design of the twin road tunnel with two traffic lanes with central reinforced concrete wall is a consequence of the short length of the tunnel and existing geological and geotechnical conditions, which build surrounding area and available space for motorway construction. Design of the construction is relatively stiff, because primary lining which was made by reinforced shotcrete at the both sides of the central reinforced concrete wall and connected with it. All construction elements were proved by numerical analyses which were carried out with 3D Finite Difference Method included space effect. The results of the geological observation and geotechnical measurements during construction of the central gallery and both tunnel tubes had shown that static resistant of the construction is adequate to all existing loads.
F.04 Increase of the technological level
COBISS.SI-ID: 853086In the case of a strong local earthquake, a quick report about the earthquake’s location is expected. Such reports are usually performed automatically, where the identification of the seismic-phase arrival of the various seismic waves on the seismogram is the most important task. For this purpose numerous detecting methods for the first P-wave arrival identification and determination are used. But in some cases, where the number of seismic stations in a local seismic network is very small, an automatic reading of the S-wave arrival is required. An algorithm for the automatic picking of the S wave arrival from three-component seismic data has been developed. Three parameters of the signal are calculated from these data and the S phase arrival is declared when the product of the three parameters increases above a reference level. Such a so-called S-phase picker is used to automatically analyze the data from local earthquakes in Slovenia's seismic network.
