Mechanics of Time-Dependent Materials (MTDM), publishe by Springer, is an international journal devoted to the time-dependent behavior of materials and structures. A quarterly journal is published through a joint arrangement between the Society of Experimental Mechanics and (SEM) and the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) since 1996. MTDM promotes the transfer of knowledge between various disciplines that deal with properties of time-dependent materials, approaching from different angles. Professor Igor Emri is elected Editor-in-Chief (for Europe, Asia and Africa) of MTDM, published by Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht. Position of an Editor-In-Chief provides a solid insight into the current state of the art in the field of behavior of time-dependent materials.

The European Masters in Engineering Rheology – EURHEO offers an advanced integrative interdisciplinary education programme & his spin-off company Psylotech; on Rheology and its applications to different Engineering areas. EURHEO combines the expertise of seven leading European Universities. Pursuant to the rules of the European postgraduate schools, each student participating in the EURHEO programme has to do research work in at least three different universities in three different EU countries. Upon completion of their studies, students receive two diplomas.

When preparing its policy and proposals relating to consumer safety, public health and the environment, the Commission relies on independent Scientific Committees to provide it with sound scientific advice and draw its attention to new and emerging problems. The Scientific Committees can call on additional expertise from a pool of scientific advisors and a database of experts. One of the committees is Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR). The Committee provides opinions on emerging or newly-identified health and environmental risks and on broad, complex or multidisciplinary issues requiring a comprehensive assessment of risks to consumer safety or public health and related issues not covered by other Community risk assessment bodies. Prof. Igor Emri is a member of this committee.

The Scientific Committee for Engineering Sciences (ENGITECH) advises Science Europe members on subjects related to engineering sciences, including biological, chemical, civil, communication, electrical, mechanical and systems engineering, as well as computer science and informatics. It comprises 15 highly authoritative European academics representing a wide range of engineering sciences disciplines; it is chaired by Igor Emri, Professor of Mechanics at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Based on the invitation of the publishing house Springer Science + Business Media Dordrecht our research group prepared a chapter on “Experimental Determination of Material Time Dependent Properties” in the encyclopedia: “Encyclopedia of Thermal Stresses” . This review chapter includes also experimental and mathematical methods developed by our research group within this research program. The presented experimental method “CEM measuring system” allows determination of numerous time dependent material properties over a wide temperature and pressure range that is with commercial apparatuses currently not possible. The methodology for close-form time-frequency-temeprature-pressure superposition, which became a new ISO standard is also presented in this chapter. The importance of the achievement: Measuring methods and mathematical approaches that allow prediction of long term behavior of polymeric materials in a variety of extreme boundary conditions, developed within this research program, were recorded in an encyclopedia of prestigious publishing house.
