In this contribution, recent achievements in the field of ultrasonic (US) monitoring of the hydration process and formation of structure of cement-based materials are described with the emphasis on the results published by the authors. Among others, a possibility of using the US wave transmission and US wave reflection method to determine setting times of different cement based materials is described. Sensitivity of these US methods to the presence of different chemical and mineral admixtures is presented and a possibility of using different US parameters to estimate various mechanical characteristics of the materials is also discussed (compressive strength, E modulus, etc.).

COBISS.SI-ID: 6210401The data on movements and rainfall for the Macesnik earthflow in Northern Slovenia have been collected and arranged in a form suitable to train the artificial neural network. It is shown that trained ANN is able to predict accurately future movements of the earthflow based on meteorological rainfall predictions thus being a powerful tool for the local authorities.
D.06 Final report on a foreign/international project
COBISS.SI-ID: 4552545In the paper preliminary results of the research project dealing with introduction of grading methods into Slovenian sawmills and creating the database of Slovenian timber is presented. The aim of the project, partly financed by the Slovenian Research Agency and partly by the industry, is practical implementation of European standards into the production of sawn timber, finding the correlation between indicative properties of Slovenian timber and grading characteristics, and grading more than 1000 boards of Picea Abies Mill. The research is closely related with the work package WP3-Experimental research in the GRADEWOOD project.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 1695335The guideline is prepared within the COST Action TU0601 "Robustness of structures". The main objective of this working group is the development of the theoretical basis for the assessment of the robustness and acceptance criteria for the structural robustness which will be used as the basis for the development of practically relevant methods for ensuring a robust design as well as strategies for maintaining the robustness of existing structures during their service life.
F.31 Development of standards
COBISS.SI-ID: 5458529We have been organizing the competition in structural mechanics in Slovenia for 20 years. The report on the competition with solutions is also published every year. The competition is aimed at students of several secondary schools in Slovenia with the main goal of increasing popularity of the field of structural mechanics and the increase of knowledge. An excellent response from both students and their mentors is experienced.
