Members of the research group have organized the international conference Compatibility and Power electronics, technically supported by Industrial Electronic Society, a part of IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). V. Ambrožič has chaired the conference, while other members of the research group (D. Nedeljković, R. Fišer, M. Nemec, P. Zajec, K. Drobnič and H. Lavrič) have been involved as members of the organizing and executive committee. More than 80 participants from 13 countries have attended the conference. Apart from 65 presentations, three invited speakers have lectured: two worldly renowned professors (prof. Buja, University of Padova, Italy and prof. Couto, University of Minho, Portugal) and a representative of Slovenian industry (dr. Bajec, Hidria).
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
Prof. Ambrožič has had an invited lecture on predictive control in power electronics and drives on an annual gathering of Italian Association of researchers in electrical converters, machines and drives. Prof. Ambrožič and his collaborators from the scientific group are among the pioneers of this branch of control of power electronics devices. The group has published their approach to this topic among the first in the world. Apart from the history of evolution of this field, prof. Ambrožič has presented current trends and work of his group in this area.

COBISS.SI-ID: 9274708The book covers the electric machines in steady and variable operating conditions. The preferred research tool presented in the book is the circuit theory. An electrical machine is presented only with circuit elements; resistance, inductances and mutual inductances and optionally with capacitance. Circuit theory with its mathematical apparatus becomes the basic tool for the modeling of electric machines. Content of the book deals with four types of electrical machines: transformers, DC machines, synchronous machines and induction machines. The book contains the basic principles of the circuits theory applied in electric machines and it deals with the transformation of variables. This is the main advantage that has contributed to the widespread use of the circuit theory in the field of electrical machines.
D.10 Educational activities
COBISS.SI-ID: 241151232The presented invention refers to the electric machine with claw poles. Machines with claw poles are known in various versions. Patent solves the problem of electronic commutation, sustainable and reliable operation, low maintenance and manufacturing costs and suitability for use in noise-sensitive environments. At the same time, a machine with claw poles, especially the version with external rotor develops a relatively high torque. The presented invention also relates to the design of the stator and rotor electric machine. This envisages the design of the stator poles in the direction of a better performance, in particular in terms of energy efficiency and the yield of manufacturing process.
F.32 International patent
COBISS.SI-ID: 9818196The project comprises of design, realization and implementation of hardware and software solutions of diagnostic system for on-line detection of short-circuits in excitation windings of hydro and turbo synchronous generators. It evaluates the signals from flux probes installed in the air-gap and detects possible asymmetries in magnetic field which are characteristic for faults in excitation windings. The concept of diagnostic system design enables its upgrade and expansion also for other possible faults of synchronous generators.
