The project team LECAD has performed industrial design of pellet burner. In addition to the shape and color criteria were taken into account materials and manufacturing technology. As part of a comprehensive approach functioning of the device has been analyzed, requirements for ergonomics and attractive shapes and explored were possibilities for modular assembly of the device. A research about material selection for the individual components were carried out. Particular attention were put to the user interface that serves to monitor and set parameters of the burner. Pellet burner is manufactured and it can be purchased under the brand Vortex. Company Vorteks d.o.o. was Slovenian start-up in year 2012.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13103387Economical wc cistern with pipeline overpressure use and double outlet is designed to maintain pipeline pressure energy in the cistern (1) which enables pressurised flushing and providing two different flushing quantities. Below the cistern there are two standard pipe connectors (10) and (11), while activation valves (3) and (4) are mounted to these connectors. Activation valve (3) is designed for large flushing operation and releases most of the water in the cistern, while activation valve (4) is designed for small flushing operation, releasing only small amount of water in the cistern (1). Cistern (1) is being filled through the filling valve (2). Filling valve (2) is attached to the cistern (1) at the connector (9) and is designed to limit the maximum pressure in cistern (1) to a specific value, thus enabling safer and more reliable operation while preventing water flow-back into the pipeline system at any moment of the operation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 133296913D scientific visualization comprises of dedicated software tools that allow reading of data, processing, assembling and presenting the results. Lectures and tutorials of 3D visualization present two ubiquitous tools on supercomputers. The first is ParaView, which is often used with Open Source software for the simulation of fluids OpenFOAM. Even greater support for different input formats (database) has a tool VisIt . In addition to general presentations and exercises on both tools we show a practical example of visualization of the motorcycle from OpenFOAM examples. In the second part of the lectures and programming we introduce graphics language OpenGL, which is the basic language for programming visualizations. In conjunction with the GLSL shading language in a series of developing examples we produce the final visualization of the motorcycle including the special effects in shading. The material of lectures is available on the website http://trac.lecad.fs.uni-lj.si/sohpc/

COBISS.SI-ID: 13035291In architectural design, freeform structures by definition represent an area of full creativity that does not limit the architect to the use of regular shapes. In a physical realization of the project, arbitrary shapes designed by the architect must satisfy a number of requirements that limit possible realizable solutions to the final freeforms. Freeform surfaces of the structures can be described by different types of meshes providing the planarity of each of the mesh surface elements. The existing freeform structures mainly consist of triangular meshes, where the condition of planarity is satisfied automatically. We chose a quadrilateral meshes because they are cost effective and simpler to construct but are geometrically complex. The first aim of the research is to ensure condition of mesh planarity and conicality by optimization algorithm based on Sequential Quadratic Optimization. Freeform façades consist of relatively thick planar panel elements and of I beams. The outer surfaces of the panel elements coincidence with mesh faces. To ensure the contact of edges of neighborhood panel elements along their thickness, their edges must be cut under different angles which cause differences in edge heights and further the differences of the positions of the inner metal sheets of the insulation panels. The second aim of the research is to develop the optimization procedure by which the minimal joint height differences will be achieved for all the joints, taking into account all the faces of the considered free form architectural design.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12962587The PRACE Autumn School 2013 communicated and discussed issues and perspectives of HPC targeting industrial applications arising from evaluation performance and/or design of products, e.g. equipment and processes, with a particular emphasis on the automotive, aerospace, and energy fields. The PRACE Autumn School places gave priority on algorithms, simulation strategies, and programming techniques for complex fluid flow simulations, structural mechanics and electro-magnetics which usually have coupled multiphysics requiring intensive use of HPC resources. The PRACE autumn school targeted users from industry and their connections with the university. 68 participants with 11 foreigners get access to the HPCFS supercomputer where they tested various simulation programs with hands-on.
