COBISS.SI-ID: 257568512Sustainable development and optimization of energy consumption are two very relevant and interrelated challenges of modern society. Contribution to these goals is brought by the following articles, which are related to the sustainable aspects of port handling equipment, sustainable aspects of the use of personal computers and sustainable aspects of conveyors in production machines.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12711451The heart pump is intended to substitute/support (inefficient) patient's heart in cases when a donor's heart is not yet available. The advantage of our invention is lower rotational speed, improvement of hydraulic characteristics and maintenance of required gaps between moving and stationary parts.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12295963Curtain-wall systems are nowdays classical approach for covering facades in different structures. Pushing aestetics to the limit requires tight inter-curtain gaps and thus hard to assemble process that presents challenge in technological and organizational sense. To support different information flow requirements effectively, ubiquitous computing must accompany such process from production till the assembly at site. Support consists of specialized software that can be used for planning, simulations, pre-measurements, analysis, assembly tracking with wall alignment, progress planning and animation of sensor carrying wall on site. Unification of the above principles is presented for use in office and during assembly.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12333083The trends in current architectural design are leading towards structures with free and irregular forms. The connection between the design intend and the fabrication presents a challenge when creating a support structure that is geometrical viable and should possess certain aesthetics, fabricational, thermal and strength requirements. To ensure the contact of edges of neighborhood insulation panel along their thickness, their edges must be cut under different angles which cause differences in vertex heights and further the differences of the positions of the inner metal sheets of the insulation panels. The main goal of presented research is development of the optimization procedure by which the minimal joint height differences will be achieved in all the joints, taking into account all free form surfaces of the individual architectural design. To compensate for the residual joint height differences the usage of spacers of different thicknesses is proposed. Quad-dominant meshes with conical properties require optimization of the vertex heights to align all beams at approximately minimal joint height differences. The research is focused in global minimization of joint height differences for sample free form architectural design, meshed with quad-dominant mesh with conical properties. The comparison of the joint height differences before and after the optimization shows the substantial improvement.
