A novel opto-mechanical system for coaxial input of laser light into the wire end, from which a pendant droplet is generated, was developed and characterized. Properties of formed laser beam ensure very uniform and efficient input of energy and a new droplet detachment mechanism due to Plateu-Rayleigh instability. The system, beside low lateral scatter of generated droplets, enables simultaneous preheating of the substrate that is of high importance for application of generated droplets. The later has been demonstrated by a laser droplet welding of a thin zinc coated steel sheets.

COBISS.SI-ID: 254828032Two diagnostic systems for spring fault detection were developed for the company Danfoss Compressors, d.o.o.. Together with already installed diagnostic system, the company is equipped with three systems for spring fault detection. The structure of the mechatronic systems and the control algorithm for the implementation of the diagnostic function are described. The mechatronic system was developed in the Laboratory of Synergetics, and the control algorithm will be implemented on the industrial controllers for easier integration into the information system of the company.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11491611Diagnostic system for monitoring the quality of compressors based on vibration measurements requires a reliable electromechanical connector for connecting electrical power. Since the existing industrial connector in company Danfoss Compressors doesn’t meet the required reliability and the number of switchings, we developed a new type of connector. The new connector enables compressor switching without sliding friction by means of the jaw mount docking mechanism. Laboratory and industrial pilot testing confirmed the applicability for the autonomous operation over longer periods.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11477019An approach to automated acoustic monitoring of mechanical faults of valve drives in company Danfoss Trata, d.o.o., is described. Acoustic signals of valve drives during the operation are acquired through a non-contact laser vibration meter. The signals are processed with spectral analysis, analysis of variance is applied to select informative components, and the quality of valve drives is recognized by discriminant analysis and probabilistic neural networks. The results indicate the possibility of such an approach to valve drives quality detection.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11475995The results of a three year operation of a forecasting system for the natural gas demand forecasting in company Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o., are presented. Forecasting system was developed and installed into operation in 2007. During the three winter seasons (2007/2008, 2008/2009 and 2009/2010), the system has been fully automated forecasting the future natural gas consumption in daily and in hourly resolution. Average daily forecasting error during the three years of operation amounts to 3.15% of the maximum network transfer capacity, enabling the customer receiving the positive cash flow.
