Adaptive diagnostic system for detection of compressor faults based on vibration is described. The system was developed in the Laboratory of Synergetics, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Ljubljana, and pilot tested in the company SECOP compressors, d.o.o.. The system consists of several mechatronic assemblies for the provision of prescribed operating conditions of the compressor (electrical connection, backpressure system), and of measurement components and control software. For fault diagnosis based on vibrations of compressors, an adaptive algorithm was developed that detects deviations of the compressor characteristics from the current compressors population. For the analysis of vibration signals, psychoacoustic based signal processing is applied to detect both stationary characteristics of the compressor (sound), as well as transient events (collisions of components into the housing). Industrial testing confirmed the ability of the system to reliably detect compressors faults, thus significantly contributing to the final quality at the output of the production line.

COBISS.SI-ID: 11908635During the several years of cooperation with company Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o., a system for short term natural gas consumption forecasting with forecasting horizon h = 1,2,...,48 hours was developed. The system was designed as a software application installed on the server of the company. The core of the system consists of a forecasting model which, based on past consumption, weather and population dynamics, predicts the next 48 hours of natural gas demand. Forecasts of the system are in the company Energetika Ljubljana, d.o.o., a basis for the optimization of the entire natural gas distribution system. During the multi-annual cooperation we have developed and implemented several improvements to the system and expanded the prediction horizon into the current 1 .. 48 hours, and at the same time provided smooth operation, maintenance and adaptation of the system.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12703259In this work we have successfully implemented closed-loop control of rubber mixer by using soft computing methods in combination with information theory. Experiments on industrial mixer showed that the process models, which include neural networks in combination with information theory, allow us to efficiently follow the optimal trajectory. We have developed an on-line predictive control system on an industrial rubber mixer of a local rubber producer. Tests in production showed improved compound quality.

COBISS.SI-ID: 7219796In accordance with the offer no. 20120702A "Development of a system for quality monitoring of bearings" of the company Gorenje Orodjarna, d.o.o., several conceptual solutions were proposed for the development of a mechanical system for the implementation of stress tests of bearings. The proposed concepts include drive assembly, load assembly, and measuring head. The objective of the proposed conceptual solutions was to provide simple, accurate and repeatable adjustment of the operating conditions for bearings of various types and sizes, as well as provide a high-quality signal acquisition of vibration, acoustic emission and temperature, which are generated during the operation of the loaded bearing. Based on initial measurements, vibration signals of bearings were analysed. Two basic features were extracted (logMS, kurtosis), which combined discriminate bearings in low-, medium- and high-noise. For more accurate evaluation of the proposed method, the samples with known quality should be obtained and sustainable tests carried out.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12832795The weldability of zinc coated steel sheets is often compromised by weld seam defects caused by rapid zinc vaporisation and burned-off zinc. Owing to this, welded seams usually remain unprotected from corrosion and are accompanied by undesirable porosity. In this paper, the laser droplet generation process and its application to laser droplet welding of zinc coated steel sheets are described. The influences of laser droplet generation and welding process control parameters on the properties of joints of zinc coated steel sheets are presented. Results show that laser droplet welding offers a promising technology for spot and continuous welding of zinc coated steel sheets in different joint configurations with good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance.
