The book published by Springer provides a comprehensive introduction to the area of robot mechanisms, primarely considering industrial manipulators and humanoid arms. It is intended for both, teaching and self-study. Introductory is explained the kinematics of rigid bodies, that is upgraded to mechanisms, serial mechanisms and their evaluation, followed by singular plane, Dexterous, redundant and parallel mechanisms, the robot contact and robot grasp coverage, and finally to the kinematic model of the human hand.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26015783The textbook deals with geometric model of a robot, rotation and orientation as well as pose and displacement of the robot mechanism. Presented are direct and inverse geometric models of the anthropomorphic robot with a wrist. The focus of the textbook is on robotic mechanisms. However, the described methods are also useful in the fields of computer graphics, mechanical engineering, aeronautics and elsewhere. The book is suitable as a study material in various fields of engineering, where it is necessary to describe relative pose and movement of objects in real or computer-generated environment. The textbook is a result of more than 15 years of lecturing of robotic courses at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.

COBISS.SI-ID: 9761364An important part of rehabilitation treatment in people with movement disabilities is training of sit-to-stand, which may be considered as the most demanding part of the overall movement training because it requires dynamic and well-coordinated movement of the trunk on the lower extremities. Several devices for training sit-to-stand movement exist on the market and in the clinical practice; however, the movement in these devices is quasi-static where the kinematics, kinetics and electromyography of the main muscles considerably differ from “normal” sit-to-stand maneuver. We have conceived and developed a prototype of a sit-to-stand trainer where the main part represents an innovative mechanism which to the largest extent resembles natural sit-to-stand kinematics and is driven by a single motor. German patent office has granted a patent for the described device and the German company medica Medizintechnik GmbH has bought patent rights and intends to market a device in the next two years.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1812329“Days of industrial robotic”, www.dnevirobotike.si are still a unique event organized by the students for students. DIR 2013 and Robolab together with the students of robotics at FE, UL, become widely recognized with noticeable feedback in electronic, written, radio and TV media (www.robolab.si/awards-media/media/). 21 industrial partners supported the event for which were prepared 9 original robot applications. Among most attention-grabbing were pancake baking, chess playing and basketball, all with the robot. The event was covered in special edition of Avtomatika, št. 115, 2013 magazine.
