Motion of Adriatic microplate according to the stable Eurasia plate was derived on the basis of computed velocity movements GPS sites. As a secondary result we derived Euler pole parameters of Adria microplate. With the computed Euler pole parameters of Adria motion, trajectories at the territory of Slovenia show shortening with the velocity rate app. 5mm/year in the NNW-SSE direction. The results obtained show also that northern part of Adria is moving according to stable Eurasia as a rigid plate.

Under adverse conditions the GPS signals become attenuated and reflected, thus processing the observation such data requires a careful and consistent treatment. A custom procedure of autonomous GPS positioning has been developed, boosting the positioning performance through appropriate processing of code and Doppler observations with robust statistics estimation methods have been used to minimise the effects of gross observation errors. These custom-developed procedures have been tested in different conditions and the results have been compared to those processed by the HS GPS receiver alone.

In each point of geodetic network kinematic quantities are considered: normal strain, shear strain and rotation. They are computed from strain and rotation tensors on the basis of known point displacement vector. Deformation analysis requires the appropriate treatment of kinematic quantities, too. Empirical results have shown that statistical properties are strongly related to the orientation in single point and local geometry of the geodetic network. Based on the known probability distribution of kinematic quantities the confidence areas for each quantity in certain point can be defined.

The three approaches for the delimitation of functional regions are presented based on daily commuting data: the labour market method, the commuting zone method and the commuting aggregation approach. The first two methods demand predefined centres while the functional regions are formed without predefined centres by the third method. These three approaches have been used for the case of the delimitation of functional regions of Slovenia considering only one spatial phenomenon, which is the daily commuting between the municipalities.

The article explains the concept of public area management and the role of information systems in this process. The tasks and management procedures of municipalities for their implementation are identified. Business processes diagrams and an information system data model for public area management are presented. Business processes are presented by BPMN notation. The information system data model is presented with a class diagram. Some guidelines for the implementation of information system solutions in municipalities are given.
