The book presents different theoretical approaches to new media art in relation to the contemporary visual culture, to the institution of contemporary art (especially relational aesthetics by Nicolas Bourriaud), to the history of art and to the new conditions of contemporary information society. The focal point of discussion evolves around the media specificities of film, video and new media objects. The book brings also analyses of new media art projects by three Slovene artists: Srečo Dragan, Jaka Železnikar and Marko Peljhan.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 247339776The article presents the steps required to reconstruct a 3D trajectory of a golf ball flight, bounces and roll in short game. Two video cameras were used to capture the last parts of the trajectories including the bounces and roll. Each video sequence is processed and the ball is detected and tracked until is stops. Detected positions from both video sequences are then matched and 3D trajectory is obtained and presented as an X3D model.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 7065940A real-time audience measurement system in the context of digital signage is proposed. The audience measurement system which is based on detecting faces in images using computer vision methods can generate accurate statistics on how many people have seen a particular displayed message. In addition, observers can be grouped into gender and age groups based on their faces. Since the audience measurement is performed in real time, this data can be used also to adapt the scenario for displaying messages in real time.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 7329876The paper presents a rehabilitation method using a personal computer and a single web camera for patients who suffer from an arm or wrist injury. Patient holds in his hand a simple object, cuboid, and moves it around. A camera records his movement while the software calculates in real-time the position of the object in a 3D-space on the basis of the co- lor information and the cuboid model. The program places the object in a virtual 3D-space in which another similar object is already present.
F.21 Development of new health/diagnostic methods/procedures
COBISS.SI-ID: 7399508The biometric person authentication technique based on the human iris is well studied to be applied in any access control system requiring a high level of security. In this paper a system for personal verification based on iris patterns is presented. We present the verification algorithm, which consists of image processing to obtain iris information, iris normalization, feature extraction, and person verification.
