Marija Gorjanc and Franci Sluga were the co-editors of the monograph entitled ''IRSPIN: development challenges'', which are published by the Department of Textiles, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Development Centre of the Slovenian Spinning Industry. The monograph includes 79 pages and represents the successful Slovenian textile companies, their production and vision of the development.

COBISS.SI-ID: 260073216Barbara Simončič was a president of the scientific committee, and Marija Gorjanc was a president of the organising committee of the 43th Symposium on Novelties in Textiles entitled Textile Horizon, which was carried out on the 7th of June 2012 in Ljubljana. Scientific programme included 2 plenary lectures and discussion on the topics '' The competitiveness of the Slovenian economy in 2012'' and ''Condition and trends in the Slovenian textile, clothing and leather manufacturing industry'', 16 lectures and 14 posters. There were 74 participants from the Slovenian textile industry, research and education institutions and students of textiles attending the symposium. This every year event has a great importance for the transfer of the knowledge from the research institutions to the Slovene textile industry (F.18). Barbara Simončič and Marija Gorjanc were co-editors of the Textile Horizon : Book of abstracts (COBISS.SI-ID 261959680).

Tekstilec is the Slovene journal for textile and clothing technology, design and marketing. In 2012, four issues of Tekstilec were published in volume 55. These issues included 17 scientific and 9 professional articles. According to Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge, the articles were cited 68 times.

COBISS.SI-ID: 763396Marija Gorjanc received the Trimo Research Award 2012 for doctoral dissertation. The Trimo Research Awards were conferred for the 11th consecutive year for latest achievements in science and new approaches and solutions in the field of architecture, industrial design, economics and management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, law, informatics, electrical engineering and staff development. The Trimo Research Awards competition encourages innovation and professionalism of students and academics mix with the economy. In year 2012 out of 102 applicants there were 48 recipients of the Trimo Research Award from ten European countries (24 bachelor and 14 master's theses and 10 doctoral dissertations).
