Barbara Simončič was a president of scientific committee of the 40th Simposium on Novelties in Textiles entitled Textile Science in New Relations. The symposium was carried out on the 19th of June 2009 in Ljubljana. Scientific programme included 2 plenary lectures and the discussion on the topic Economic crisis in textile industry and how to deal with it, 10 lectures and 13 posters. There were 63 participants at the symposium. This every year event has a great importance for the transfer of the knowlege from the research institutions to the Slovene textile industry.

COBISS.SI-ID: 246207488The atmospheric air and low-pressure air plasma was used for functionalization of raw and bleached/mercerized cotton fabrics to achieve better adsorption of subsequently used nano silver. Nano silver was applied from blank exhaust dyeing process and its concentration was determined by ICP-MS. Cotton surface morphological changes after plasma treatment were detected by SEM. The results indicated that plasma treatments significantly alter the morphology of cotton fibres, inducing different accessibility of treated materials to nano silver application.
