A part (241 pages) of the manual for designers has been prepared, which includes an overview and interpretation of the theoretical background of the new European and Slovenian standard Eurocode 8, commentaries on important clauses, and some examples of the application of the standard. Since Slovenia was the first country where the application of new standards Eurocode was mandatory and therefore relevant international literature is not available, the manual is an indispensable tool for the successful application of Eurocode standards in practice.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 4746081Aim of this study, funded by ARSO - Office of seismology and geology, is to contribute to the rapid and successful implementation of the new standard for earthquake resistance of structures Eurocode 8 (EC8) in practice. The part of the standard EC8-3, related to assessment and retrofitting of buildings, is discussed. A commentary of selected parts of EC8-3 was prepared. The requirements of the standard were critically evaluated. The capacity of RC elements according to EC8-3 were compared with data from other provisions and from the literature. A test case is also presented.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4796001The paper presents successful transfer of self-compacting concrete (SCC) technology to construction practice. Economical SCC mixes designed in laboratory of Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering were the starting-point for the design of concrete plant SCCs that are used by the Primorje Group. High early strength of the SCC with limestone filler was ideal for precast applications. Therefore, new precast plant has been built, where only economical SCC is used for the production of precast structural elements.
F.09 Development of a new technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 4582241The principal investigator is one of the three editors of the most prestigious international jounal in the field of earthquake engineering Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics. In 2009, he processed 88 manuscripts submitted for publication. Editorial work provides an overview of research performed worldwide and also enables some influence on the directions of future research.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25358592The invited paper presents an example of the application of an advanced method for seismic assessment of building structures to an actual building, i.e. the building of the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering in Ljubljana. The multi–storey RC building is asymmetric in plan and irregular in elevation. The structural system consists of structural walls and frames. The building was designed in 1962 for gravity loads and minimum horizontal loading (2% of the total weight). The assessment procedure is based on the N2 method, developed within the research group and implemented in Eurocode 8.
