ADM-flow is a software package developed for velocity field calculation from a time series of flow images. Velocity field is calculated using a model similar to optical flow that is based on the advection-diffusion equation. ADM-flow has so far been successfully used on a number of scientific and industrial processes, including airfoil flow visualization, diesel engine fuel injection, mineral wool fiberization and cavitation, where using a non-contact, non intrusive measurement method is of key importance. ADMflow offers a wide choice of calculation approaches, ranging from single velocity field calculation to velocity field animation and even batch calculation mode where the desired calculation parameters can be varied automatically
F.06 Development of a new product
Researchers of the Research Programme have significantly contributed to the development of a physically based full real-time capable engine software, which fulfills all requirement posed by the application on HiL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) systems. One of the main applications of such a tool is development of real electronic control units of modern engines aimed at fulfilling the strictest emission limitations on HiL systems, where real engine is emulated by a physically based engine model that features high level of predictability. The model was developed in collaboration with a leading vendor of powertrain simulation tools AVL List that announced this tool as: »SUCCESS OF COLLABORATION – ENGINE RT MODEL ON HIL … Running a crankangle resolved filling & emptying approach for gas exchange together with a crank angle resolved cylinder is unique worldwide.« source: https://www.avl.com/web/ast/success-of-collaboration-engine-rt-model-on-hil. Another board application area of such tools is support in the early virtual development stage of the powertrain, as this stage heavily relies on application of advanced system level tools that make possible efficient exploration of the design space.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12344859Invited lecture visualization is intended to overview the measurement method for use in various mechanical engineering and nature science examples. Visualization is shown how it is used for examples like flow around bodies, inside machines and equipment and around live beings like meduses and tree canopies, The method is assessed in a horizontal approach, like a bridge between various methods and for analysis and experimental modeling

COBISS.SI-ID: 11810331Ljubljana’s heat and power plant uses four types of fuels: coal, biomass, natural gas and liquid fuels for starting. The combined heat and power production is performed with steam-coal technology and with combined gas cycle. Heat peak power can be covered with peak boilers fueled by liquid fuels. The report defines the method for fuel share calculation in the cast products.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 12364059The invention deals with remodeling of the annular shaft lime kiln on the combined heating and lime burning with such remodeled kiln. The separate external biomass prefurnaces or gasifiers are added to the kiln. The invention enables the use of wood chips in their original form and do not require additional wood chips drying and grinding. Wood chips are gasified in the prefurnace and a syngas is produced. Through the additional channel the syngas is introduced into the xisting combustion chamber where burns completely. Prefurnace and the intake channel are thermally insulated. Syngas is not cooled. Prefurnace and the intake tube is adiabatic system which ensures that the calorific internal energy of wood is fully transferred to the existing combustion chamber. In a case of combined heating kiln’s total energy and mass balances should remain the same. This way the appropriate technological parameters for lime burning are assured. The proportion of the replacement of fossil fuels with wood chips depends on the humidity of the wood chips and is between 40% and 60%. By sharing the wood chips significantly reduce the cost of production of lime. Wood chips are significantly cheaper than fossil fuels and are not burdened with the CO2 tax. According to the invention one furnace has also been successfully processed and operates successfully. Since the invention is economically highly interesting, an Austrian multinational company for building materials applied a European patent application with the required protection for all European countries.
