Norwegian steel construction association invited Prof. D. Beg to have three one day courses on the design of plated structures for Norwegian structural engineers (5.4.2011,28.3.2012, 21.3.2013: mainly slender plate and box girders for bridges. The main topic of the course was advanced stability problems, including stiffened plates, interactive stability, etc. The invitation followed the publication of the book Design of plated structures, published by Ernst&Sohn a Wiley Company and ECCS in 2010 (with three coauthors from Germany and France).

COBISS.SI-ID: 5711713The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft DFG offers the Mercator Programme to enable Germany's research universities to invite highly qualified scientists and academics working abroad to complete a DFGfunded stay at their institutes. Prof. dr. Jože Korelc has received Mercator Visiting Professorship for the period of 4 moths at Institut für Kontinuumsmechanik, Leibniz Universität Hannover for his scientific work on a field of automatization of numerical modeling.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5320033The frame of new study programme is buildings. Their design, construction and use represent a big part of construction sector. In the existing educational system of the University of Ljubljana two parts of the construction area are well represented: Architectural design (Faculty of Architecture) and design of loadcarrying building structures (Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering). In neither of the programmes the education in the area of "protective" structures, related mainly to structural building physics, is represented to a sufficient degree.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5357665A design manual for plated structures (mainly plate and box girders in bridge construction) was published by Ernst&Sohn – A Wiley Company. A design manual explains the correct and economic use of Eurocode EN 199315 design rules and a large number of experimental results. The manual contains also additional design procedures that result from the research work of the authors.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 5237601Darko Beg is a coeditor of the Structural design manual for design according to Eurocode standards. This Manual represents a completion of a long and successful campaign on the introduction of Eurocodes in Slovenia, which was coordinated by Darko Beg. The Manual has 1100 pages, covers all types of structures, includes numerical examples and is a unique publication of this kind in Europe. The first edition was sold out in only two months. The manual represents one of the key elements at the successful transition to the Eurocode structural design in Slovenia.
