COBISS.SI-ID: 25178919The invention relates to new active cathode materials, to their applications and procedure of preparation of active electrode materials on the field of lithium ionic batteries based on lithium vanadium oxide, stabilized by titanium or aluminium and showing a layered structure. Active electrode materials have a general chemical formula LixVMO4, where typically, x = 2 and M is titanium or aluminium preferentially. The invention describes the applicable electrochemical activity of Li2VTiO4 and Li2VAlO4 compounds with a layered structure as a cathode material in lithium ionic batteries, where electrochemical energy stored within the said compounds can be utilized reversibly in the potential window of 1-4.6 V in respect to metallic lithium. The invention refers to the procedure of preparation of the said compounds, which is based on the homogenization of a lithium, vanadium and titanium or aluminium precursor in a water or waterless medium in the presence of organic acids and/or non-ionic dispersants. After homogenization, the obtained dispersion of precursors is dried and thermally treated in an inert or reduction atmosphere. The product represents particles of chemical composition LixVMO4, surrounded preferentially by an electron-conductive phase, whose diffraction patterns match the layered structure according to X-ray powder analysis.
