The invited paper presents the cost optimization of an underground gas storage (UGS), designed from lined rock caverns (LRC). The optimization is performed by the non-linear programming (NLP) approach. For this purpose, the NLP optimization model OPTUGS was developed. The model comprises the cost objective function, which is subjected to geomechanical and design constraints. The geotechnical problem is proposed to be solved simultaneously. Numerical example at the end of the paper demonstrates the efficiency of the introduced optimization approach.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14262038The patent introduces the new type of roundabout, the roundabout with “depressed” lanes for the right turning or “the flower-roundabout.” Financially speaking, the main advantage of the new type of the roundabout is that it can be implemented within the dimensions of the already existing “normal” two-lane roundabout, which is very cost-efficient. From the traffic-safety point of view, the main advantage of the new type of roundabout is that it has no crossing conflict points.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13822998The simulation of traffic flows is becoming an ever so popular in common practice in the field of traffic studies, and has become an indispensible constituent part of any project documentation relating to the reconstruction or new structures of systems of crossroads or independent ones. Our research deals with the problem of calculating the capacity of a turbo – roundabout and other different types of roundabouts.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13928982The thesis deals with fasterners influence and sheating board material influence on horizontal bearing capacity of timber - framed walls. Treated timber - framed wall composed of a timber frame and sheating board fixed by mechanical fasteners to the both sides of the timber frame actullay behave like composite structure. Three different groups of test samples were experimentally, analiticaly and numericaly (FEM) analysed and compared. Obtained analitical and numerical results show good agreement with measured results.
