The invention is a procedure for dynamical deep etching and extraction of particles from aluminium alloys for sample preparation, and characterisation of Al-alloys using scanning and transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The term »dynamical« is used because of the application of ultrasound that promotes movement of the electrolite and increases the dynamics of the process.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14468118The present paper deals with in-situ and non-destructive characterization of the vacuum carburizing process. For this purpose, the unique laboratory device was set up, that enables measuring the carbon diffusion during vacuum carburizing process by electrical resistance measurements. We determined the kinetics of the process and the microstructural changes during carburizing of plain carbon and corrosion resistant stainless steel (N360 iso extra) in a low-pressure acetylene atmosphere (5 mbar).

COBISS.SI-ID: 14464022The influence of lanthanum addition and solidification conditions on the microstructure and properties of gold have been studied. Rapidly solidified ribbons of Au-0.5 wt.% La alloy have been prepared by melt spinning. An overall assessment of the ribbons has shown that up to three microstructural regions are distinguished: fine equiaxed grains, zone with a columnar structure and coarse equiaxed grains. Their number, type and height depend strongly on the ribbon thickness.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14071830Recrystallization and grain growth of a cold deformed Au-La alloy have been studied with optical and electron microscopy as well as microhardness measurements. Depending on the experimental results a recrystallization map that gives the correlation between degree of deformation, annealing temperature and hardness has been constructed

COBISS.SI-ID: 14463510The influence of the alloying elements and the microstructure on development and stability of the intrinsic two-way shape memory effect has been discussed. Furthermore, this work deals with the production of thin specimens of shape memory alloys by melt-spinning and splat-cooling, the training procedure and their characterization with respect to microstructure and functional properties.
