The homogenous distribution of the magnetic field inside the transformer iron core is required to obtain the higher output welding current an better efficiency. This is improvement is obtained with the selection of the appropriate structure of primary and secondary windings. Selection of the corresponding winding structure also results in reduction of the iron core size and weight and the reduction of copper for the windings. The proposed structure of windings enables easier detection of iron core saturation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 17031446Detection of the iron core saturation is based on an additional iron core bridge with the measuring coil. The induced voltage in the coil is further processed to determine the saturation of the transformer iron core. Measurement of the local and global saturation is possible in the described manner. The iron core saturation detection is very robust and is working good also in the presence of strong electromagnetic noise in industrial environment.

COBISS.SI-ID: 17031190The tester and the procedure of testing to determine the quality of magnetic circuits is based on pulse excitation and hysteresis control of primary current. The magnetic characteristic of the tested transformer iron core is evaluated on the basis of measured frequency of excitation and measured reactive power. The corresponding working point and tester operating range is chosen by changing the number of primary winding turns and by selecting switching current and voltage. All tests are performed by the standard existing inverter, so that there is no need for an expensive additional testing equipment. Transformer core testing is quick, effective and universal. The tests of already built-in cores are also possible. The entire magnetic circuit is evaluated by the described procedure taking into account influence of many factors, such as the type of material, lamination tickness, damages, the increased air gap due to the manufacturing process, irregularities during construction, etc.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 17557782Monitoring system for welding transformer is designed to record most important measuring data of electrical variables of welding transformer. Afterwards it is possible to transfer data to the PC and convert them into DEC code. On the base of obtained data it is possible to reconstruct the working cycle of welding transformer during the lifetime and realize the diagnoses of possible failures. System is designed in the compact form to be mounted inside the welding transformer without the additional power supply.
