Prof. Marija Kosec was the chair of the 48th International Conference on Microelectronics, Devices and Materials, which took place on September 19-21, 2012, in otočec, Slovenia. On 20 september there was a Workshop on ceramic micro-elctro-mechanicla system (C-MEMS), chaied by Darko Belavič. There were almost 100 participants from 12 countries. The conference attracted participation of Slovenian companies Eti elektroelement d.d., Hyb d.o.o., Iskra Avtoelektrika d.d., Iskra Zaščite d.o.o., Keko oprema d.o.o.

COBISS.SI-ID: 263043328Alumina porcelains, which are used in electrotechnics, for example in electrical fuses, differ in the amount of alumina. The former represents a large part of the final cost of the material due to its inherently high cost. The patent presents a solution where a fraction of the alumina is replaced by a technological waste material, which has the same compositioan as the porcelain. By the optimization of the milling procedure of the starting materials and of the firing programme, a porcelain with a homogeneous microstructure and comparable or even higher flexural strength than the reference alumina porcelain was prepared. The porcelain, which contained 16 % of the waste material in the formulation and was fired at 1300 oC, had the flexural strength of 130 MPa, which is comparable to the reference material.

COBISS.SI-ID: 24250407The electrocaloric effect (ECE) i.e. conversion of the electrical energy into heat may be of significant importance for the application in cooling and heating devices of new generation. We summarized the results of ECE study on various relaxor ferroelectrics based on the compositions PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3 (PMN), PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT), (Pb1-3x/2Lax)Zr0.65Ti0.35O3 (PLZT X/65/35, X = 7 – 9.5) and lead free K0.5Na0.5NbO3-SrTiO3 (KNN-STO).
