High-pressure vapor-liquid-phase equilibria for the palm oil-SF6 and coconut oil-SF6 systems were investigated at temperatures of 313 and 333 K and at pressures up to 500 bar. For both systems the transition from a two-phase system to a three-phase system and the phase inversions at specific temperature and pressure were observed visually. The data are crucial for the design of separation processes.

The solubility of CO2 in saturated polyesters at different temperatures and pressures has been measured using a magnetic suspension balance and the binary diffusion coefficients were calculated. The results show a good solubility of CO2 in polymers. The diffusion coefficients of supercritical CO2 in polymers have generally high values. The results confirm, that CO2 is a suitable solvent for processing this polymers.

The replacement of refrigerant R22 in a cooling system for preparing chilled water, used for cooling reactors producing phenol–formaldehyde resins was described. The refrigerant R22 was replaced with R407C. The results are given as diagrams depending on evaporation temperature of refrigerant. Profitability evaluation was carried out using the method of net present value, the coefficient of profitability and the time period of return of investment. Calculations of electrical energy savings were done using the method of internal profitability level.

The synthesis of bare maghemite nanoparticles was accomplished by thermal co-precipitation of iron ions in ammonia alkaline solution at harsh reaction conditions. Primary surface engineering of maghemite nanoparticles was performed by the proper deposition of silica onto nanoparticles surface under strictly regulated reaction conditions. The secondary surface functionalization was achieved by coating the particles with organosilane, followed by glutaraldehyde activation.

Different reaction media were applied for biocatalysis, where alcohol dehydrogenase from Lactobacillus brevis, combined with its coenzyme, NADP, was used for the production of optically pure R-1-phenylethanol from acetophenone. Enzyme activity and stability was studied in these media.
