Results were obtained in cooperation with industrial partner Helios and are basis for design and development of a new process in industrial scale. Solubility of CO2 in saturated polyester resins at different temperatures and pressures was measured using a magnetic suspension balance and binary diffusion coefficients estimated. Results show good solubility of CO2 in polymers. Structural effects were dependent on pressure, temperature and time of exposure to CO2.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 13799446prof. dr. Ž. Knez was invited by the American institute of chemical engineers to give lectures about the high pressure process for fine particle formulation so called PGSS (Particles from Gas Saturated Solutions), which is protected by EU, USA, JP in CAN patents. He presented the newest scientific insights and results of the research group in the filed of PGSS process.

COBISS.SI-ID: 14585878The contribution presents a new mathematical model for determining optimal solutions for district heating pipe networks. The model is based on a simplex method, consisting of the non – linear objective function and system of non – linear equations for the hydraulics limitations. The simulation is done on a pipe network with 22 pipes and 13 nodes. Optimal solution is also evaluated with the capitalized costs method.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25795072Silica monolith aerogels with different degrees of hydrophobicity were prepared by incorporating MTMS or TMES in standard sol-gel synthesis. Excellent properties of aerogels, obtained with the sol-gel synthesis, were preserved with supercritical drying with CO2. Super hydrophobic silica aerogels were used for removal of different toxic organic compounds (toluene, benzene, chlorobenzene, ethylbenzene, xylene, chloroform, 1,2-dichloroethane, trichloroethylene) from water. It was found for mercapto aerogels that they are excellent adsorbents of Cu (II) and Hg (II) ions from water.
