We decomposed surface EMG to investigate the changes in electrophysiological properties of low-threshold motor units during a series of 25 ramp contractions of the abductor pollicis brevis muscle. Discharge patterns of 73 motor units that were active for 16-98% of the time were identified. Conduction velocity decreased for motor units that were active for )70% of the time, while their activation thresholds increased, and the opposite for less active units. The results indicate that low-threshold motor units exhibit individual adjustments that depend on the relative duration of activity.

Domain-specific languages and models (DSL&M) aren’t new: FORTRAN and Cobol can easily be viewed as domain-specific languages for scientific and business computing, respectively. Now it’s easier to define languages and get tool support for narrower domains—for example, specifying insurance products or developing home automation systems. Such focus offers increased abstraction, making development faster and easier. But, when calculating a DSL&M solution’s costs, one must consider the whole development lifetime.

The task of marker optimization in clothing production is to eliminate pieces from a work order using an optimal sequence of markers and plies, where the work order is given as a matrix of colors by sizes, markers are vectors of sizes to be laid-out and cut together, and the number of plies determines how many pieces are eliminated from the work order each time. Although the optimality of a marker sequence can be determined in several ways, we consider minimum preparation cost as a key objective in clothing production.

This paper presents a system for supporting agricultural subsidies in Slovenia. First, an overview is given of specific areas of Slovenia’s land, considered as zones. Then, the system, which explores the computational power of today’s clients, is briefly introduced. Some features of the geometric and topological system (GTS) are introduced. This application has been used successfully for 3 years and has turned out to be effective and stable.

Differential Evolution algorithms belong to Evolutionary Algorithms. These are widely used for optimizing continuous functions. In this book chapter we present a self-adaptive differential evolutional algorithm which uses (1) a self-adaptive mechanism on control parameters F and CR, (2) more strategies during the mutation operation, (3) a population size reduction mechanism during the evolutionary process, and (4) the M-constrained method. The performance of our algorithm is reported over the set of twenty four CEC2006 constrained benchmark functions.
