COBISS.SI-ID: 13477654The main objective of this study was to develop overall kinetic model of sodium benzoate synthesis, from ethyl benzoate and sodium hydroxide. A series of experiments were performed in an automated RC1 reactor system (Mettler Toledo). The ethyl benzoate and sodium benzoate molar concentration profiles were indirectly real-time monitored using FTIR based ReactIRTM iC10 analysis system, (Mettler Toledo). The heterogeneous reaction mixture was initially homogenized. The proposed second order kinetic model gives very good prediction of the experimental data.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13590550The use of the mathematical programming approach to the synthesis of (bio)chemical processes and other systems has many advantages: feasibility, optimality, integrality and flexibility of solutions. The contribution wishes to shed light on some important issues relating to different challenges and capabilities of the advanced systems synthesizer MIPSYN, the successor of the process synthesizer PROSYN (Kravanja and Grossmann, 1994).

COBISS.SI-ID: 13265686This report presents the application of the mathematical modelling and optimization within the programme tool MIPSYN. That was performed for different raw material and technological alternatives of bioethanol production via the biological and thermochemical approach. Synthesis problems contain 2000 to 14000 constraints. Profitability of production is maximized including depreciation and other expenses. Heat integration is also performed.
