The leading theme of the international conference, attended by 212 participants from 27 countries, was “Research and Education for Sustainable Nuclear Power”. At the conference, 6 invited lectures and 146 papers (38 as oral and 108 as poster presentations) were presented, summarizing the latest achievements in various fields of nuclear energy and technology. Electronic proceedings with 131 peer-reviewed papers were issued after the conference.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23957031The time-dependent pressure in the containment of the Krško NPP during severe accidents with core meltdown, reactor pressure vessel failure and molten corium – concrete interaction in the reactor cavity was investigated. The analysis performed in 2007, which considered the first 20 hours after Reactor Pressure Vessel failure, was performed for the extended time interval 72 hours after the failure. Simulations showed that the atmosphere pressure in the containment does not reach the design pressure. The adequacy of the containment venting system at the considered conditions was confirmed.
F.17 Transfer of existing technologies, know-how, methods and procedures into practice
COBISS.SI-ID: 23538983An expertise that considered the Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) diesel generators was prepared. The expertise considers the Safety Analysis Report change and Krško NPP Technical Specifications change related to diesel generator surveillance tests. The expertise was prepared based on U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission NUREG–0800 and Regulatory Guide–1.9, Rev.3 recommendations, as well as on Krško NPP operating experience.

COBISS.SI-ID: 22724391The goal of the project was the identification and description of safety characteristics of third generation nuclear reactors AP1000, EPR, APWR and ATMEA1. The identification of safety characteristics was based on the description of structures, systems, components and their integral performance given in the vendors' documentation. The identification was performed according to the safety philosophy and safety standards of the UN International Atomic Energy Agency. The review of safety analyses was also performed, in accordance with the classifications of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

COBISS.SI-ID: 23607847The research group took part in the overseeing of outage activites and tests at the end of 24th fuel cycle in the Krško nuclear power plant. We have been verifying that the outage activites and tests were performed in accordance with the required regulations and technical specifications. The activities have therefore contributed towards meeting radiation protection standards and to the safe operation of the Krško NPP.
