The action is at the surface: Ultra-high surface area emulsion templated porous polymers are prepared by the hypercrosslinking method. Control of the extent of conversion of benzyl chloride groups leaves residual accessible functionality for subsequent immobilisation of 4-(N-methylamino)pyridine, giving a highly efficient nucleophilic catalyst that outperforms both un-hypercrosslinked versions and hypercrosslinked polymer beads.

Surfactant stabilized emulsions of dicyclopentadiene and 50%, 60%, 70% or 80% of water were cured using ring opening metathesis polymerisation. All formulations gave open porous architectures featuring excellent mechanical properties which change upon oxidation.

The inhibition behaviour of the nonionic surfactant TRITONX405 mixed with KBr and Tetramethylammonium Iodide (C4H12N I) in aqueous solutions of 2.0 M H2SO4 on the ferritic stainless steel was studied using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements at 25 °C. The electrochemical data showed that mixtures of the surfactants used in this study adsorbed on the stainless steel surface in agreement with the Flory−Huggins adsorption isotherm. Polarization curves revealed that the studied mixtures of chosen inhibitors represent a mixedtype of inhibitors. From the values of the free energy of adsorption, which in both mixtures decreased with respect to a single surfactant, we concluded that the adsorption in mixtures was stronger. The inhibition efficiency of the mixture studied here showed good inhibition properties for the sampled system.

A thin-film composite (TFC) polymer membrane for nanofiltration, modified with tri- and tetra-alkoxysilanes, was produced using a sol-gel procedure. The surface charges of the modified membranes were determined at different pHs by means of the zeta-potential. The streaming current was measured for a zeta-potential analysis of the flat-sheet membranes.
