The invention concerns new P-chiral phosphorus compounds with high enantiomeric purity where the phosphorus atom is bearer of chirality and is engaged in a 6-membered fused ring between a biphenylic structure; their metal complexes, and their application in asymmetric catalysis, in particular hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds. This technology allows easy access to enantiomerically enriched chiral molecules interesting in particular for the pharma, agrochemical, food, and cosmetic industries.

COBISS.SI-ID: 5194778As a result of hop breeding program in 2013, a new variety of hop (Humulus lupulus L.) with the name Styrian Eureka was entered in the catalog of hop varieties. According to its chemical characteristics and brewing value is clasified as dual purpose variety, usable for basic hoppoing and also for all late hoppings, that have especial influence oon beer flavor. Its characteristics are resistence to drought stress and to certain diseases.

COBISS.SI-ID: 620684Symposium with renowned international participation entitled “Trends in biomolecular structure: from chemistry to function” has been organized between October 3 and 5, 2013 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The program of this international symposium included presentations and critical assessment of recent discoveries in the study of structure and dynamics of biological macromolecules using NMR. Symposium participants presented the results of their latest research in the fields of proteins, oligonucleotides and small molecules as well as their structural studies and application. The symposium gathered in one place the leading scientists who use NMR spectroscopy in their research. The symposium website is available at http://www.nmr.ki.si/trends_2013/.
