The textbook is intended for the students in uniform master's study programme Pharmacy to teach them laboratory skills in organic chemistry. This handbook was created in response to lack of such literature with the introduction of the Bologna study programme. In addition to the described fundamental organic laboratory techniques, the handbook also provides complementary information of the core principles of organic chemistry. This handbook has been designed to allow students to get accustomed to autonomous work, which is one of the basic principles of the Bologna study.

F.07 Improvements to an existing product
COBISS.SI-ID: 33302021There is a growing need for a more efficient drugs that could improve the success of chemotherapy. Our patent application refers to analogs of 1,3-bis(4-nitrophenyl)triazenes, their pharmaceutically acceptable salts and N-acyl derivatives as promising candidates to develop new drugs for the treatment of cancer patients. Refered compounds are cytotoxic in very low concentrations (IC50 0,22 to 12,8 µM), and are well soluble. Our investigations indicate that the above-mentioned compounds could be used in the treatment of cancer patients alone or in combination with other anti-cancer drugs.

COBISS.SI-ID: 30639621Members of the programme group delivered several lectures at the international conferences. The title lecture was a plenary lecture at the pharmaceutical conference, where MK presented our aspects of medicinal chemistry. Other lecturers at the conferences in 2009: KOČEVAR, M. [plenary lecture]: [Catalysis in organic chemistry, Workshop, University of Bucharest, Department of Chemical Technology, June 22-23, 2009] [COBISS.SI-ID 30557189]; KRANJC, K. and HREN, J. (COBISS.SI-ID 30557445 and 30557701). POŽGAN, F. at the Slovenian Chemical Event 2009 (COBISS.SI-ID 30840069).
B.03 Paper at an international scientific conference
COBISS.SI-ID: 30809861MK was elected National representative in the Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry Division (III) of IUPAC. This is a membership in one of the committees of the most important general organization for the pure and applied chemistry (IUPAC), which is taking care of organic and biomolecular chemistry. He was also delegate on General Assembly of IUPAC 2009. At the end of the elected period he was invited by the President of IUPAC Professor Jun-Il Jin to become IUPAC Fellow (See: http://www.iupac.org/web/per/kocevar).
