Boštjan Golob, Samo Korpar and Marko Starič are experimental physicists with a focus on the physics of charm quark mesons. In their research, they discovered that the D mesons transform into their antiparticles, which is one of the most important results in particle physics in the past decade. Physics of charm quarks has, thanks to them, become one of the most interesting areas to search for phenomena beyond the existing theory of elementary particles and their interactions. Their research has also shown that mesons containing charm quarks, constitute an important tool to study the properties of the strong interaction between quarks. For their research, they have developed new experimental methods, especially methods for particle identification. They are recognized as world class scientists in the field of experimental techniques. Scientific publications of the laureates have achieved exceptional international visibility, being cited over a thousand times, thus indicating a significant contribution to the world treasury of knowledge.
