Evolutionary history of extensional Grad trachybasaltic and basanitic volcanism is closely related to hydrovolcanic activity. Initial maar morphology changed into a scoria cone, tuff cone and tuff ring. Fluvial sedimentation interplayed with pyroclastic settling, particularly from pyroclastic surges. In the late-stage, devastating debris-flows and lahars developed.

Zeolites are important authigenic minerals in the resorvoir rock of hydrothermal systems as they influence porosity and permeability of the rock, and in that manner, efficiency of production of fluid and electric power. Authigenic mineral assemblages are studied in detail in both geothermal fields, and also mineral transformations related to the change in temperature or geochemical gradient.

The research was focused on determination of metal sources in street sediment and household dust in a previously heavily contaminated area. Calculated and obtained anomalies of metal abundance in dusts can not be explained with the process of natural dusting of contaminated soil (by ironworks and the industry of titanium whitings) but with recent emissions in the atmosphere.

Two approaches in data mining are discussed on the geochemical datasets: multivariate statistical method and special types of neuron networks- self organising maps. The latter were recognised to show better performances because attributive parameters (geological setting, soil type, mineral composition etc.) can be included in the data processing.
