We showed that SUMO binding site is very conserved among different HPV types. We compared high and low risk HPV types (HPV-16 and HPV-11) and showed that both are clearly sumoylated by all three SUMO proteins, although the level of sumoylation vary significantly between HPV types and also between particular SUMO proteins. Differences in L2 sumoylation between high and low-risk HPV types suggest possible relevance of L2 sumoylation to the progression and outcome of an HPV infection. Abstract based on the above stated scientific data was selected for the oral presentation.
