This report presents optimization of the corn-based bioethanol plant with process synthesizer MIPSYN. Mathematical programming techniques and heat integration are used. Problem involves discrete/continuous decisions and is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear programming model (MINLP). The latter comprises mass and energy balances of process units and maximization of gross profit. Modelling is performed with high level programming language GAMS. Modules of process units are built in process synthesizer MIPSYN, which could thus be used for syntheses of bioprocesses.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13131798This report presents the application of mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model which is used for the selection of optimal biogas production process based on animal and other organic wastes, following by transformation of biogas into thermal energy and power in a cogeneration system. Optimum process structure involves anaerobic fermentation under thermophilic conditions. Existing pig substrates are replaced by animal wastes from new chicken farm. Fresh water from local source is used for dilution in closed water system.
