The first part of the article,presented at the occasion of the publication of the second volume of the Slovene Dialect Atlas of Speeches from Slovene Istria,explains the importance of regional linguistic atlases for the development of Slovene dialectology.The second part of the article focuses on an etymological analysis of Romanic and Germanic loanwords extracted by the author from the section dealing with forestry and wood processing.The necessary and pseudo loanwords,synonyms,derivatives and compounds illustrate the phenomenon of interference in Istrian-Slovene dialectal terminology.

The article discusses eighteen insect names and some closely related forms (for instance honey, sting). The entomonymes are part of a larger corpus of over eight thousand forms we have collected (research results were published on several occasions, after their final authentication and supplementation in 2008 in all villages where Istrorumanian is spoken to this day: Žejane, Šušnjevica, Nova Vas, Jesenovik, Letaj, Brdo, Škabići, Trkovci, Zankovci, Miheli, Kostrčan) and which does not consist of entomonymes alone. At the end of etymological article the original etymon is given.
