Ideas about the free movement of people are becoming quite questionable even within the very European Union. The security-policy argument and the related visions of global threat largely function as an everyday defensive game. On the one hand, illegal migrations in the Mediterranean Basin may represent an actual violation of the law, but they are, on the other hand, nevertheless an expression and proof of an existential necessity.
