By means of a detailed codicological analysis the author discovered that the Škofja Loka Passion Play, the oldest surviving Slovenian dramatic text, was not written in 1721, as it has been wrongly believed until now. The article offers proofs for the thesis that p. Romuald had written the original text of the Passion Play earlier (soon after 1714). The analysis of other documents proved that the textual tradition of the Passion Play had existed in Škofja Loka even before p. Romuald came there. This older textual tradition was fully developed at latest in 1713, probably even earlier.
