The article gives an account of some fundamental editorial concepts and technical problems, which are involved in preparation of digital critical editions. One of the main subjects is the question how to apply the Text Encoding Initiative Guidelines to the image-text linking when presenting digital facsimiles of the primary sources and their several possible transcriptions or translations.

The article presents basic information on the previously unknown Slovenian Franciscan writer Anton Brešan, and his literary opus. His work has not been researched and was for the most part lost. At least one of his manuscript homilies from the end of the 17th century has been preserved and it reveals Father Brešan as s skilled writer of rhetorical prose.

The archives in the Tuštanj castle in Moravška dolina are in Slovenia the sole manor archives that remained up to the present time "in situ" and in possession of the castle family. Exceptionally valuable in this complex is the legacy of the Slovenist and Professor Maks Pirnat (1875-1933) commenced in places of his dwelling where among other he collected original older documents. Published and commented in the contribution are some interesting documents from various periods.

In this critical edition, all the Slovenian municipal swearing-in texts are published in diplomatic transcription and in critical (edited) transcription. All these texts came into existence in municipal offices of seven Slovenian towns. The time span of the published texts is about two centuries and a half, yet the upmost possible span is marked by the dates 1493 and 1808. The origin of these texts can be traced to Ljubljana, Novo mesto, Kranj, Metlika, Višnja Gora, Kamnik and Ormož.
