We discuss changes in the vegetation and hydrology at Lj. barje using a multiproxy approach. During the Late glacial Barje covered a deep lake surrounded by open woodland which in the early Holocene was replaced by broadleaved tree taxa and Picea. This was followed by the spread of Fagus, Abies, planktonic and oligotrophic diatom taxa as well as an increased allochtonous influx. Changes in forest composition and the spread of herb taxa were probably advanced by human impact on the environment. The beginning of organic sedimentation, dated to 6000 cal BP.

We discuss finds of two pile-dwellings at Ljubljansko barje. They indicate a similarity with the material from Hočevarica and can be dated to the "furchenstich" horizon. We talk about the period of the second quarter of the 4th mill. BC. The age of the sites confirms the old Ložar's thesis, taht the choice of location for settlements at Barje can be related to the dynamics of the regresion of the Holocene lake, which means that the youngest among them should mostly be sought in the direction of the withdrawal of the lake, i. e. in the SE part in the direction towards the center of Barje.
