The article discusses the way in which the pressure of new subjectivity and occurrence increases the sense-formation capabilities within given lexemes and the expanded denominative capability that occurs as a result, and the way terminological areas of various professions and the connections between them in the so-called “broad terminologisation” reflect that. It is becoming increasingly more common to use a particular term in a more general sense – called ‘determinologisation’, but modern use, however, still favours broad terminologisation.

The scientific monograph presents the development of Slovenian legal terminology from the 19th century onwards till Slovenia’s entry into the European Union. Slovenian legal terminology was heavily influenced by other languages – first German, then Serbo-Croatian and today English. An analysis of verbal terms from the terminological collection Evroterm underscored the importance of the verb as one of humanities’ terminological parts-of-speech. Adhering too much to the original term leads to the creation of poorly understandable terms, which make effective communication more difficult.

Skiing terminology was one of the first to be written. Its foundations were laid in the works of Rudolf Badjura, Smuška terminologija (Skiing Terminology) (1921) and Smučar (Skier) (1924). Badjura’s list of skiing terms is not based solely on the currently recognised method of proceeding from materials and word use.
