Sensitive ecosystems at the upper forest border are vulnerable to erosion processes, soil water retention properties change and above and below ground diversity is diminished. Contribution describes molecular methods of the mycorrhizal diversity identification on roots of two shrub species at upper forest border and their potential for biotechnical measures to protect soil.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2427046Presence of ski resorts in harsh alpine ecosystems is an important disturbance. On Krvavec ski area, in machine graded plots, plant diversity was lowered and the share of undeveloped soil elevated. Worse water conditions and soil structure on these ski slopes means worse conditions for plant growth, hence the slower progression of vegetation which would protect soil best against potential erosion by its above and below ground biomass.
